Candle Care & FAQ
All our candles have their wicks trimmed prior to delivery, so no need to trim before your first burn.
On your first burn, please burn for at least 2-4 hours or until the whole top of your candle is melted. Once the top is melted please safely blow out, any further burning is just wasting wax and fragrance! This way your candle will last longer.
Please ensure your candle is only burnt when on a flame and heat retardant surface, away from open windows/drafts.
Please do not move your candle whilst lit or whilst wax is still liquid. As our containers are tin or glass they can get hot and moving your candle can lead to spills and accidents.
After each burn, once the wax has solidified, please trim your wick to around 5mm. This ensures the next burn is even and the flame remains a safe size.
As soy wax is a natural product, it behaves differently to paraffin wax candles. Soy burns cleaner and doesn’t emit toxins into your home. As a natural product after your first burn the top of your candle may not have the beautiful smooth finish it did to start with. Please don’t worry this is totally normal and won’t affect any future burns!

How is Fox & Willow Dorset eco-friendly?
We believe that our dedication to sustainable, cruelty free and vegan candles shouldn’t stop at the actual product. Our entire process is, right down to the packaging and labels.
Our soy wax is sourced from North America and Brazil from purely ethical and non-genetically modified sources. A full supply chain audit has been carried out and only ethical suppliers have been chosen, those that do not contribute to de-forestation.
Our candles are created in recyclable containers (we love to see how you up-cycle them!)
All our packaging is made from recycled materials and are fully recyclable &/or biodegradable. Even our labels and packing tape are vegan and biodegradable.
Are your products suitable for vegans?
Yes! Every candle and wax melt I create is 100% vegan and cruelty free, even our packaging and tape is vegan friendly. We don’t test on animals, all our ingredients and materials are sourced specifically for their vegan and cruelty free status.
Where are your products made?
All Fox & Willow candles and wax melts are lovingly hand poured at my home in Dorset. I only pour in small batches to ensure each product meets our high standards.
Are you CLP Compliant?
Yes, here at Fox & Willow Dorset we recognise the importance of being CLP compliant and adhere to the legislation.
The CLP Regulation ("Classification, Labelling and Packaging") is a European Union legislation that standardises the warnings that have to be on products which contain chemical substances (essential and fragrance oils). It was decided that candles fall within the CLP Regulations and it became law in June 2015.
Every product you purchase from Fox & Willow will have the appropriate CLP and safety information.
How will my order be packaged?
Each order is packaged differently, depending on what you are ordering. Smaller orders of melts only are wrapped in recycled tissue paper and padded with recycled & recyclable shredded paper, or 100% corn starch peanuts for protection.
Every order is packaged using recyclable postal boxes.
Each order also contains a hand written thank you note, from me, to you. I'm very happy to personalise this note if you’re sending as a gift.
How long will my order take to arrive?
I aim to get your order to you quickly so you can enjoy your new candle or wax melts as soon as possible. Please allow 2-3 days to dispatch in stock products. I endeavour to process and ship all orders as quickly as possible.
If your chosen product is out of stock you can request to be notified when it’s back in stock. Please sign up for notifications on the specific product.
During these crazy times the lovely people at Royal Mail are extremely busy, whilst every order is posted 1st class, please allow up to 5 working days for Royal Mail shipping.
Can I order as a gift for a loved one?
Of course! I love nothing more than secret candle & wax melt surprises! Please add any special details in to the comments box when ordering and remember to choose an alternative postal name and address.
I hope you are thrilled with your order but if for some reason you are not, we have the following process;
Returns are accepted within 14 days of receiving your order.
Refunds will be offered if the product is unburned & in original undamaged packaging. Return postage must be paid for by yourself. Refunds are for original product price, excluding all delivery charges.
Refunds will be processed to the original payment type.
If you are unhappy with your order please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order.
